Description of New Invention

In busy traffic, it’s very easy to lose sight of vehicles when they move into your blind spot. The job of my new invention is to make sure that drivers don't change lanes in front of another vehicle when driving down the highway. My invention is a new side view mirror that helps drivers detect and see vehicles hidden in their blind spot by combining a (BLIS) Blind Spot Information System Side View Mirror with an Integrated Convex Spotter Mirror. When you combine the two, the BLIS system will detect a vehicle entering the driver's blind spot and an indicator light will illuminate on the corresponding side view mirror alerting the driver that a vehicle is approaching. Whenever the indicator light illuminates, an integrated convex spotter mirror aimed exclusively at the driver’s blind spot will allow the driver to visually see a vehicle in their blind spot, alerting them of the potential danger.

FORD'S CURRENT SIDE VIEW MIRRORS

- (BLIS) Blind Spot Information Sytem Side View Mirror with Indicator Light

How It Works

Ford's (BLIS) Blind Spot Information System detects when a vehicle enters a driver's blind spot zone on either side of the vehicle and a yellow indicator light illuminates on the corresponding side view mirror, alerting the driver that a vehicle is approaching.

- Blind Spot Mirror with Intergrated Convex Spotter Mirror

How It Works

Ford's Integrated Blind Spot Mirrors consist of a side view mirror designed with an integrated convex spotter mirror in the outer corner, which is aimed exclusively at the driver’s blind spot. When a vehicle enters the driver’s blind spot, it is visible in the integrated convex spotter mirror, alerting the driver that a vehicle is approaching.

MY NEW SIDE VIEW MIRROR INVENTION

- Blind Spot Information System Side View Mirror with Integrated Convex Spotter Mirror

How It Works

My new invention is a side view mirror that combines a (BLIS) Blind Spot Information System Side View Mirror with an Integrated Convex Spotter Mirror. Anytime the (BLIS) system detects a vehicle entering the driver's blind spot, an indicator light illuminates on the side view mirror alerting the driver that a vehicle is approaching. An integrated convex spotter mirror, aimed exclusively at the driver’s blind spot, allows the driver to visually see the vehicle approaching in their blind spot, alerting them of the potential danger.

Example of My Invention in Action

What are the Benefits of My Invention?

  • It is a new feature designed to improve driver's road vision.

  • It helps drivers detect and see vehicles hidden in their blind spot.

  • It helps to protect drivers and prevent accidents and near misses from occurring.

  • If the indicator light on the side view mirror ever malfunctions or blows out, the integrated convex mirror will be able to alert the driver that a vehicle is approaching by allowing them to visually see the vehicle in their blind spot.
